Frequently asked questions
What kind of brands work with SGS?
Any brand that wants to reach or understand young consumers — consumer products, apps and digital services, education, food and beverage, fashion, finance, local businesses and start-ups. If Gen Z matters to your growth, a challenge will be useful.
What does a brand need to provide?
A brief (objective, audience, problem), a point of contact for evaluation, and prizes or recognition for winners. SGS handles challenge design, college partnerships, student registration, mentoring, evaluation logistics and communication.
Who owns the ideas students create?
Usage rights are agreed in the challenge terms before launch. Typically the brand receives full access to all submissions and can use the ideas, with credit to the students where work is published.
How long does a challenge take?
Most challenges run four to six weeks from launch to winner announcement, plus one to two weeks of preparation. Shorter sprint formats are possible for simple content challenges.
Can we hire the students we like?
Yes. Talent discovery is one of the main reasons brands run challenges. Internship or project offers to top performers are encouraged and handled directly between the brand and the student, with SGS support.
